Are you a seasoned professional with a Master's degree in Mathematics, Econometrics, or Engineering, and ready to take on a strategic leadership role? Our client is known for blending a small bank atmosphere with significant impact in retail banking, is seeking a Portfolio Manager for our Portfolio Management team in Retail Banking.

Team
Portfolio Management Retail is part of the Retail Banking department. Retail Banking excels in mortgage lending and savings products across The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, priding ourselves on simplicity and transparency to optimally serve their clients. The Portfolio Management team plays a crucial role in managing both the mortgage and savings portfolios. This includes activities like interest rate risk hedging of the mortgage portfolio, credit risk assessments, Retail Banking funding, and pricing determination for it's mortgages.
You'll work in the Portfolio Management Retail team. This team consists currently of 5 colleagues that work together closely, laugh together and regularly have a social activity together like a dinner. As a team, we are ambitious to improve how we work and what we do. Many of us have a technical background like Mathematics and Econometrics. We are searching for a person who fits in well.
Furthermore, it is a subteam of a larger team where there is expertise on Customer Analytics as well as Structuring. This will provide you with additional learning opportunities on the field of data science as well as structured finance, such that you get exposure directly to a wide range of competences.

Position
As a Portfolio Manager, you will shape strategic initiatives, participate in or lead cross-functional project teams, and foster the growth and development of junior staff. Your expertise will drive the management of our mortgage and savings portfolios, crucial for maintaining our market-leading position in The Netherlands, as well as to our positions in Belgium and Germany.

Your activities:

  • You'll have a key role in Portfolio Management Retail. This places you in a position closely to the dynamics of the day-to-day business, leading to a lot of interaction with a wide range of experts.
  • Your analytical skills will be put to good use in data requests and modelling, such as forecasting, explanatory analysis and quantitative support to (new) business cases. Key examples are the risk profile of our mortgage balance, a crucial role in the market valuation of our mortgage loans and providing essential information of the spread/margins development.
  • Your primary clients will be the Retail Banking's Management Team and our Executive Board Members. Due to your contributions they can make strategic decisions for the company.
  • You will help set up new initiatives, where your input is welcomed. Initiatives with a large impact will be discussed with the executive board.
  • You will help improve our models both on implementation as well as on methodology. You will work in SQL, Python, PowerBI and Excel. Due to the introduction of a Cloud Data Platform you will focus on automation and improved presentation of figures of our current reports and new insights.
  • You will act as a mentor to junior colleagues, enhancing their skills and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • You will work together with experts from various fields on strategic projects, important for the strategy from NIBC. Additionally and specifically for our team, you work in projects with team members from Structuring and Customer Analytics teams.

Candidate

  • Have 4-6 years of relevant work experience in a subset of the following fields: Basel Framework, hedging, pricing, liquidity risk, behavioural modelling, prepayment risk, valuation of mortgage loans, structuring and reporting;
  • Are fluent in English and Dutch;
  • Enjoy analysing complex numerical problems;
  • Are a flexible team player and can manage ad hoc requests and tight deadlines;
  • Like taking initiative, are not afraid to ask questions and want to develop yourself.;;
  • Have a commercial mindset, like to work together, have a go-getter attitude and are involved with your team;
  • Want to use your knowledge and experience to help junior team members;
  • Are proficient in Python, SQL and PowerBI (this is strongly preferred).
